ROBOTICS - FAQ
How long does a robotic integration project take?
A pre-configured workstation for a straightforward application can be installed in weeks. A custom-engineered cell involving new fixturing, machine integration, and a full safety assessment typically runs a few months from order to production. The variables are lead time on the robot itself, complexity of the end effector, and how much of your existing equipment needs to be integrated. We give you a schedule with the quote.
What is the ROI on a robotic cell?
For machine tending on a single shift, payback is commonly one to two years. It improves considerably on a second shift, because the robot works hours you would otherwise have to staff. The honest caveat: ROI depends on your labor cost, your current cycle time, your scrap rate, and how consistently you can staff the position today. We build the calculation with your numbers before you commit, and if it does not pay back we will say so.
Can you automate a process without replacing my existing machines?
That is most of what we do. Machine tending, in particular, is about making equipment you already own run more of the time. We integrate with CNC machines, stamping presses, injection molders, and inspection equipment from a wide range of manufacturers.
Do you handle safety assessment and compliance?
Yes. Every cell we build includes a formal risk assessment, and this applies to collaborative applications too — 'collaborative' does not mean 'exempt from safety requirements,' which is a common and expensive misunderstanding. We specify and install the guarding, light curtains, safety controllers, and interlocks the assessment calls for.
Which robot brands do you work with?
We are an authorized system integrator for FANUC and DOOSAN, and we work with a range of peripheral suppliers including OnRobot, Schunk, and Aim Robotics for end effectors and tooling. Being authorized rather than merely capable matters when something needs warranty support — it means one call rather than three vendors pointing at each other.
Do you work with companies outside Michigan?
Yes. We are based in Rochester Hills, Michigan and install systems throughout the United States. Local customers get the advantage of being able to visit during the build, but geography is not a constraint on the work.
